Best for

People who write a lot (email, chat, docs, code prompts) and want to dictate polished text into any app instead of typing.

Not great for

Offline or strictly confidential dictation: audio is always processed in Wispr's cloud, and sharing data for model training is on by default.

Recent change Wispr raised $280M at a $2B valuation (Series B, Aug 2026) and introduced its Canto speech model. It also launched a meeting Notetaker (Mac and Windows only), expanded to Android earlier in 2026, and added a Growth plan.

What it is

Wispr Flow is voice dictation that works in any app. Press a key, speak, and it types cleaned-up text where your cursor is, removing filler words, fixing punctuation and following corrections you make mid-sentence. People use it for email, chat, documents and prompts to other AI tools.

It suits anyone who writes a lot and would rather talk. It runs on Mac, Windows, iPhone and Android. The free plan allows 2,000 words a week on desktop; Pro, at $15 a month, makes dictation unlimited. Wispr has also added a meeting Notetaker on desktop.

Your audio is always processed in Wispr’s cloud, so it is not an offline tool. “Improve the model for everyone” is switched on at sign-up; turn it off under Settings, Data & Privacy.

Your data

'Improve the model for everyone' is preselected at onboarding; turn it off under Settings > Data & Privacy (organisations can enforce this). Dictation audio is still processed in the cloud. The Notetaker is a separate Mac and Windows feature.

Under the hood

Runs on: Canto. Compare the models themselves in the model directory.
