Best for

Artists, designers and marketers who want striking, stylised images and mood boards and are fine with prompt-based control.

Not great for

Private or confidential work on the cheaper plans, because images are public in the community gallery unless you pay for Pro or Mega to get Stealth mode.

What it is

Midjourney makes striking, highly stylised images from text prompts, and is the tool many artists and designers reach for when the look matters more than precise control. It also makes short videos. It runs on its website, with Discord still available.

There is no free trial on Midjourney itself; plans start at $10 a month. The biggest thing to know before you sign up is that Midjourney is an open community: on Basic and Standard, your images are public in its gallery, and others can see and remix them. Keeping images private needs Stealth mode, which only comes with Pro ($60) or Mega ($120).

Commercial use is allowed on paid plans, but companies earning over $1 million a year need Pro or Mega. Its terms give Midjourney a broad licence to your prompts and images.
