Gemini Notebook is Google’s tool for working with your own sources. You upload documents, PDFs, web pages or notes into a notebook, and every answer it gives is grounded in, and cited back to, those sources. It was called NotebookLM until Google renamed it in July 2026, and it is best known for Audio Overviews, which turn your material into a podcast-style conversation.
This makes it one of the best study and research tools for students and anyone digesting a stack of reading. The free plan is generous: up to 100 notebooks, 50 sources each, and 50 questions a day. It will not answer from the open web or from outside your sources, which is the point, but worth knowing.
Google says personal-account data in Gemini Notebook is not used for training unless you submit feedback.
