Best for

Anyone who writes emails, essays or work documents and wants spelling, grammar and tone fixes inside the apps they already use.

Not great for

Long-form creative drafting or research: the free plan caps generative AI at 100 prompts a month, and it polishes text rather than planning or fact-checking it.

Recent change Grammarly Inc. renamed itself Superhuman on 29 Oct 2025; the writing product keeps the Grammarly name and is also bundled in the Superhuman suite (with Superhuman Go, Mail and Coda/Docs).

What it is

Grammarly checks your writing as you type, in your browser, email, documents and most apps. It fixes spelling and grammar, flags tone, and on paid plans can rewrite whole sentences or adjust a paragraph to sound more confident or more friendly. Its company renamed itself Superhuman in late 2025, but the product is still called Grammarly.

It suits anyone who writes emails, essays or work documents and wants a second pair of eyes that is always there. The free plan covers core corrections and 100 AI prompts a month. Pro costs $30 a month billed monthly, or about $12 a month billed yearly, which is the figure you will usually see advertised.

It polishes text; it does not plan, research or fact-check it. Privacy: Grammarly’s “Product Improvement and Training” setting is on by default for individual accounts. Turn it off in your account’s privacy settings if you would rather your writing was not used.
