OpenAI has restructured its ChatGPT Pro subscriptions around three monthly tiers (Pro 100 at $100, Pro 200 at $200 and a new Pro 500 at $500), and the change is not purely additive.
The new top tier is the only one that includes Ultrafast, the faster serving mode announced at DevDay on 29 September. OpenAI’s help centre is explicit: “Among Pro plans, Ultrafast is available only on Pro 500.” At launch, buying credits on the cheaper plans does not unlock it. OpenAI’s DevDay recap describes Ultrafast as up to eight times faster token generation in Codex, at 300 tokens per second, and up to six times faster in the API.
The quieter change is at $200. New Pro 200 subscriptions come with a lower usage allowance than the plan previously carried, which OpenAI attributes to efficiency improvements in its models. Existing subscribers who qualify keep the old allowance until 29 October 2026, after which the subscription “will move to the lower included usage allowance” at the same price.
Trade press has reported specific before-and-after allowance numbers for Pro 200. Those figures do not appear on OpenAI’s own page, so they are secondhand until OpenAI publishes them.
