Best for

Creators and small studios who want to generate shots and edit existing footage (Aleph) in one app with commercial rights.

Not great for

Heavy users on a budget: the Standard plan's 625 monthly credits run out fast, and there is no longer an unlimited plan.

Recent change In 2026 Runway moved to runway.com, released Aleph 2.0 and Runway Agent in May, and launched the Runway Dev API and Media Router in July. Its old unlimited plan was replaced by credit-based tiers, including a $95 Max plan.

What it is

Runway is an AI video studio for creators and small studios. It generates video from text or images with its own Gen-4.5 model and a range of third-party models, and its Aleph tool can edit existing footage, changing a scene, removing objects or restyling a shot.

The free plan gives 125 one-time credits to try it. Standard costs $15 a month for 625 credits; Pro is $35 for 2,250. Runway dropped its unlimited plan in 2026, so heavy users now need to watch their credits. Paid plans include commercial rights and no watermark.

Runway’s privacy policy says it may use your data to improve the service but does not say whether uploads train its models, and offers no training opt-out. You keep ownership of what you upload and generate.
