The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) announced its ART framework, short for Accountability, Resilience and Trust, on 15 October and issued updated guidance on responsible AI use by banks.
The HKMA says more than 60% of the use cases in the second round of its GenAI Sandbox explored agentic AI. A coming discussion paper will propose rules for AI agents, including a register of material agents and ways for banks to step in.
Why it matters: a major regulator is preparing to register banks’ AI agents, a concrete supervisory tool for agentic AI.
