Self-driving truck company Aurora said at its investor day on 23 September that it expects to end 2026 with 200 driverless trucks working under customer contracts, and is aiming for more than 30,000 by 2030.
Aurora says its system has driven more than 500,000 miles without a driver since its commercial launch, and that its driverless trucks average more than 225,000 miles a year, over twice a typical truck. These are the company’s own figures.
Carrier Hirschbach plans to run 500 trucks using Aurora’s system, with deliveries from 2027.
Why it matters: driverless freight is moving from pilots to commercial fleets on US highways.
