South Korean lawmaker Kim Moon-soo used AI-powered glasses to answer an English question from the College Scholastic Ability Test, the Suneung, in front of Education Ministry officials during a parliamentary audit on 7 October, the Korea Herald reported.
He cited cases of candidates caught cheating with such glasses in the TOPIK Korean language test and in national technical qualification exams.
Education Minister Choi Kyo-jin said the ministry is preparing guidance and training to help staff spot smart glasses, but that putting radio-frequency detectors in every test centre would be difficult this year. Anyone caught will be disqualified and barred from the following year’s exam.
Why it matters: wearable AI is now a live threat to one of the world’s highest-stakes exams.
