Global sales of professional service robots rose 24% in 2025 to almost 250,000 units, the International Federation of Robotics said in its World Robotics 2026 report. Professional service robots are machines that do useful work outside traditional factory lines, such as moving goods in warehouses, cleaning or inspection.
Transport and logistics was the largest application, with 117,000 units sold, close to half of the total. Most of these are mobile robots that carry shelves, totes or pallets around warehouses and distribution centres.
The federation’s figures are compiled from manufacturers’ reports and give an industry-wide count, rather than one company’s claim. They show logistics buying more service robots than any other sector, as operators such as Amazon and DHL expand their fleets.
