Agility picks a Cambridge battery firm to keep Digit 5 on two shifts

Agility Robotics said on 15 October that it has chosen Nyobolt, a fast-charging battery company based in Cambridge in England, as the battery technology supplier for Digit 5, the humanoid robot it unveiled in September.

The claim is about uptime rather than capability. Agility says the pack gives Digit 5 about 90 minutes of work on a nine-minute charge, a run-to-charge ratio of roughly 10:1 against 2:1 on Digit 4, and that this lets a single robot cover more than 20 hours of a 24-hour day. For a warehouse operator, that is the difference between a robot that needs a spare standing by and one that can hold a shift pattern on its own.

Worth noting what the announcement does not settle. The performance figures are Agility’s own and are not independently measured, and the robot is not shipping: early access to Digit 5 with the Nyobolt pack is set for the first half of 2027, with broader availability six to nine months after that. Agility’s own risk disclosures name Nyobolt as the exclusive supplier and flag the possibility that it may not deliver enough units on schedule, which is more candid than launch releases usually are.

The announcement is on Agility Robotics’ newsroom.
