Meta announced on 28 September a new business division, Meta Enterprise Platform, to sell its AI models, agents and infrastructure to companies. The products named at launch are the Muse agent, Meta Business Agent, the Muse API and Muse Code.
To run it, Meta has hired Chirantan “CJ” Desai as Chief Enterprise Platform Officer, reporting directly to Mark Zuckerberg. Desai was previously chief executive of MongoDB, and before that held senior roles at Cloudflare and spent nearly eight years at ServiceNow, latterly as president and chief operating officer. It is a classic enterprise-software hire, which says more about Meta’s intent than the launch post does.
Meta named no customers, partners or prices. Its pitch leans on reach instead: the millions of advertisers and hundreds of millions of small businesses already on its platforms.
Why it matters: Meta has spent years releasing models for free. A dedicated sales division led by an enterprise veteran means it now wants to compete directly with OpenAI, Anthropic and Google for corporate AI spending.
